當很多人回想起Office 2007的代號「Office 12」時，時常會很疑惑「Office 13」到底怎麼啦？儘管微軟官方多次稱不會有「Office 13」而將在未來直接推出Office 14。筆者究其原因發現原來是因為迷信的關係。微軟Office產品部的一些人認為13是個不吉利的數字。
據悉13在國外是十分不吉利的數字，通常擁有13層以上的高樓通常使用12A來代表13,微軟的做法是將Office直接跳到14。據微軟Office部門經理Eric Vigesaa在06年12月27日接受TechNet採訪時透露，「13不夠吉利，所以我們稱之（下一代產品）為Office 14」。

“Eric: I actually am taking a vacation for two weeks and then, it may sound strange but the next version of Office is already in the planning stages, we want to make sure that our IT perspective and apps are represented in the new product focus and offerings so we’re going to be very involved with that.
Michael: So that’s Office 13 in development huh?
Eric: Well, 13 is unlucky so we’re calling it Office 14.
Michael: Awesome, and when do you start dogfooding?
Eric: That’s not for sure yet, I would guess late next year but that’s a guess at this point, the schedule hasn’t been solidified around that.”
